My Pantry Was Out of Control!
Perhaps you can relate to my messy dilemma. We have three cooks in the house and we all like to use herbs and spices while cooking. That means that things often do not get put back where they belong.
It becomes one big jumbled mess of unorganized jars and we are constantly shuffling around trying to find the right spice for the recipe.
We buy our herbs and spices in bulk and part of the problem is my eclectic system for storing them.
I mainly use Mason Jars of various sizes but also like to reuse small glass jars and plastic 2-pound bottles. It really is out of control and unsightly.
My solution has been to organize the jars by spice type. I keep them in low plastic tubs that fit on my pantry shelves. Mexican food spices in one box, and Indian spices in another. All of the main cooking herbs and spices are all together in their own box too. That way it’s easy to pull out a master box and grab the spice you need. Even still, we are constantly putting the jars where they do not belong and nothing ties them all together because of the various jar sizes.
I hesitate to go out and spend money on a unified system.
Then I Found a Set of Chalkboard Reusable Labels
I have decided to embrace my eclectic pantry storage system and jazz it up with chalkboard reusable labels. These things are really great and are certainly giving my pantry a unified look.
The labels are made of heavy duty plastic and are reusable. They have a chalkboard look and feel to them and the kit that I purchased has 48 labels of various sizes with its own white marker included. Even removing a label after a few days did not cause the plastic to tear or become misshapen when I took it off.
Unlike using actual chalk, once the marker has dried it will not smudge off of the label if you (or the family) rub a finger across it. That doesn’t mean that your writing is permanent – all it takes is a light wiping with water to remove your writing and start again.
It includes 8 different designs to choose from. Simply, write, stick, peel, rinse, and reuse. It really is that easy. These labels are awesome for mason jars, spice jars, jelly, school folders, storage bins, office supplies, and just about anything you can imagine. I even cut some in half to fit on smaller tins that I’ve collected.
I found that the labels are best used on flat surfaces and so are not suitable for some canning jars that have writing and designs all round.
It’s best to put them on a container like you would a smartphone face cover – going slowly so there are no air bubbles. Luckily a label is easy to remove if you’ve made a mistake. These Self-adhesive Chalkboard Sticker Labels From Koala Kraft are getting my pantry back into shape. #chalklabels
I received these labels at a discount in exchange for my honest review of the product and the opinions expressed are entirely my own. There are affiliate links in this post, thanks for supporting PreparednessMama in this way.
How would you organize your pantry with chalkboard labels?
Thanks for this.Just looking at all those pretty organised jars made me go and order some.
