Get Your Freezer Organized with this Giveaway
I have been putting off organizing my chest freezer for so long, but my recent move has given me inspiration. I did the research and purchased the things many months ago and never found the time. Now I’m glad I have.
I should show you the reality…here is a picture of my freezers with all the stuff on top! Yikes – how did we get in there?
Carefully!
My New Chest Freezer Organization Plan
1. FIFO -First In First Out is a basic inventory practice. Be sure that you are using the oldest items in your freezer first. That means you will need a way to keep track of what you have in there and rotate it regularly.
2. Keep a freezer inventory list in a handy place and teach your family to use it. For us that is right on the freezer. I set up a scrap paper system for my family to write on when they take something out. It is right on the side, within easy reach. Once a week I collect the papers and update my inventory.

3. Use a series of easy to move bins and bags to separate the food. Since the main challenge with chest freezers is effectively using the bottom area, I chose to use cloth shopping bags and bins to do this. They were inexpensive and will be easy to move.
4. Clearly label each one by making tags for each bag. I made laminated tags that should last a long time and can easily be re-tied and moved when I need to. Plus my family will have no doubt about what is in each one. See more freezer organizing ideas.
UPDATE: Now that I’ve found Freezer Labels (dot) net, I will print out these cute freezer labels and get everything organized. I think that these labels and my FoodSaver will be a terrific combination. Now you have the chance to use them together too.

my freezer looks almost the same and also my washer and dryer with all my canning pots and tools. great giveaway. hope I win!
I love the way you have put these together,,, Who doesn’t need help to organize their freezer? I know I do… Thanks.
I would be thrilled to win the food saver. Mine isn’t sealing properly and I know it has saved us a TON of money. I also would love to have the labels to organize my freezer. Thank you so much.
I have had foodsavers in the past, and my current one has just stopped tripping from vac to seal so I really need a new one. I use the sealer for everything from dehydrated goods to frozen to what have you.
I freeze over ripe bananas mashed up, two to a freezer bag because many recipes call for two at a time. A Foodsaver is out of reach right now for my husband and I, but it would make storing frozen bananas a whole lot easier.
