What’s Your Favorite Pot Holder?
I have several kinds of pot holders. Some are knitted of yarn. Some are those quilted flat holder sets that you receive as a gift when you get married. I no longer have a set that matches. I’ve had them all a long time… and I’ve burned myself using every single one of them. Because, let’s face it, traditional pot holders are not very protective.
I had the chance to try an Etheno Oven Mitt last week and wanted to share my review.
This is my first experience with silicone baking products. I know that they make cupcake pans of this same material and that it’s heat resistant, so it seems the concept would hold true for oven mitts. Even still, it was hard to trust it the first time I pulled a sheet of cookies out of the oven.
It just seems like it would melt.
Of course it didn’t. I found it to be sturdily constructed and easy to use.
Pro’s of the Etheno Oven Mitt

Con’s of the Etheno Oven Mitt
I only found one thing I didn’t like. I had my husband try on the oven mitt to get his opinion. Unfortunately, one size does not fit all. At least not easily.
He was able to get the mitt onto his hand, but had a difficult time getting it off. (He’s 6’1″ and about 240). I think that someone with big hands would probably want to use this kind of product as a flat pot holder, rather than a mitt. That said, it did not rip or even seem to mind being stretched as we wiggled it off his hand!
I am going to use my new mitts for a few things. First, I will keep one in the kitchen to use for tricky cooking projects – no more burned fingers. The other Etheno Oven Mitt is going into my chuck box to use with our camping and bug out supplies. I figure this will work really well for cooking with a dutch oven, over an open fire pit, around the BBQ, and especially in the kitchen.
I was given a free set of Etheno Oven Mitts in exchange for this review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
